Day 31 - Long Day, Short Post

I have the court decree in hand!  Or rather, my facilitator has the court decree in hand!  Early start tomorrow morning to go get Miss A's birth certificate.  In addition to receiving my court decree, my friend who was not supposed to get her court decree until tomorrow got it today as well.  And...to top it all off her boy and my girl were both born in the same city so we get to travel together tomorrow.  This is great news for the both of us and we couldn't be happier about it.

Had a great visit with Alex and we finally got off the couch and played table tennis.  Tonight is her last night to ever sleep in the orphanage.  So excited!

It is pretty late here so I'm going to climb into bed, but wanted to let everyone know that today went well and there were no issues getting the decree.

'Night!

  1. Excellent! I was wondering if you were going to be able to get her tomorrow. That is fantastic news! I can't imagine she's going to sleep much tonight.

It'll be crazy busy for you... if you happen to see S please say goodbye to her for us. We've been thankful to have you guys there.

  2. Just in case you don't remember this from our blog, the passport office required us to turn in the passport Dennis used for hosting BEFORE they would give us the new one. Since we didn't find this out until 5:30pm, we had to wait another day for it. Just to let you know in advance so maybe you can save some time and pick up the passport before going to the passport office in Lutugino.

  3. Brian~ I saw S yesterday and Kelly gave her the gift. Kelly has a photo on her camera. I told her you all had been trying to call her (not sure the messages I was giving to Alex were getting to S) and asked that she double check that her phone is on. She claimed that is has been. If you can, try again tonight.

Melissa~ A different twist for us is that kids over 14 must have a criminal background check before new passports are issued. This could tack on an extra day, or it could tack on an extra three days. It's all a crap shoot. :)

  4. Sooo glad things are moving smoothly for you. I'm sure you and Alex are both excited that this is her last night in the orphanage. What a strange reality for her! We'll keep sending prayers your way so that you and your friend can travel back to the states together. Keep the posts coming!
