Go! No, wait. Go!! Noooo, wait. Go!!! No, wait...kinda.

So we were originally supposed to see the Inspector, Director and Olga yesterday.  Then it got changed to 2:00 today because the inspector had to go to Kyiv on Wednesday.  Then it got changed to 9:15 this morning.  Then it got changed to 1:00 this afternoon.  Finally 1:00 came.  Then the Inspector came in around 1:15.  He asked us dozens of questions, which we weren't really expecting because so many people before us said he would only ask a few.  After a while in the hot seats he finally admitted that the Director of the orphanage was not in and we would have to wait for her to come back, hopefully sometime today, before we could have our meeting with her.  He was basically stalling for time by asking all the detailed questions hoping the Director would show up.  No such luck.  We went to lunch.  We went out for coffee.  Finally around 4:45 the Inspector calls and says the Director is on her way back and to meet him at the orphanage.  We showed up.  The Inspector showed up.  The Director...didn't show up.  Until 6:00.  During that hour+ of time we were waiting we were asked dozens of questions by the Assistant Director.  Also during that hour+ time of waiting the Inspector got tired of waiting and left.
Long story short (too late!) the Director came...and asked us dozens of questions.  FINALLY, she pulled Olga into the room (YAY!) along with one of her teachers and the Assistant Director.  Now it's Olga's turn to answer dozens of questions.  We were done around 7:00 and given 30 minutes to visit with our girl.  :)
Bad News: Because the Inspector left before the Director came we weren't able to get Olga's written statement that she wanted to be adopted.  (She did give her verbal "Yes")  :)  This means we have to redo the meeting tomorrow in front of the Inspector where she will give her formal written statement.
Good News: Olga is doing GREAT!  She was very, very happy and didn’t hesitate to say “yes” to adoption.  She is VERY well liked at her school by all of the teachers and staff and they told her when she goes to America forever that we will all be dancing and they will all be crying.  That almost brought Olga to tears, but she stayed strong.  I was so incredibly proud of her.
After our time with our girl we drove back to Lugans’k and had dinner with our friends.  It was a long day of waiting, but the payoff was seeing the Fabulous Miss O.
Will post again tomorrow after O has given her super official written statement of her desire to be adopted by us.  :)

  1. That is all crazy but can't complain about the answer :) It's great to hear. The kids and I were praying for you all in the van this morning waiting for the bus. Just told them and they cheered for you!! Dennis smiled when I told him O said yes to America... showed him the picture on your blog just to be sure he knew who. He did ask about S too.

  2. Welcome to the wonderful world of Ukraine bureaucracy! We thought we were going to have to wait until the Director returned from hosting in Spain on Jan 24th in order to get his old passport, remember? :) Praying this is the only thing you end up having to wait on!
